Most of us plug in telephone overnight but in general just 2 hours you can charge plug fully for a smartphone.
According to David MacKay professor in Cambridge University, if you remove the charger when you don’t use, within a year you will save enough power to use water heater once time. It means that although you charge telephone all night, the amount of power isn’t also so much.

A study in 2012 of national laboratory Lawrence Berkeley showed when plugging into the socket, this charger can consume an average power output about 0.26 watts. However when plugging in telephone into charger, average power output increase about 3.68 watt. After the battery is fully charged, this power reduced to 2.24 watts. With a household in the US, yearly the average cost to charge asmartphone is only about 5.30 dollars.
However, after fully battery, you shouldn’t charge again. This action will make you change new battery because lithium battery (this kind is used for most smartphones) shouldn’t be fully 100 percent during a long time. According to experts, to keep pile lifespan optimum, you need to use it a short time, after charging in a short time. This means when walking in many short distances, you will be less tired instead of running constantly a long distance.
